My name is Sarah Wade and I started stringing beads and making jewelry in the 1980’s after meeting my friend and mentor, Gloria McConnaghy, an artist, former nurse, Peace Corps. Volunteer, and import jewelry business owner from Cincinnati, Ohio. She taught me a lot about the import jewelry business, jewelry making techniques, types of materials and the places that they came from. Travel has always been a big focus in my life, particularly in Southeast Asia, India, and the South Pacific. Travelling in these places and experiencing these cultures has had a huge influence on my style of design.

Over the years I have often made jewelry as gifts for friends and family, and on occasion I have been asked by someone to make a piece for them to give to someone special.
Chuck wanted a special necklace for his wife, Toni, for their 60th wedding anniversary. He had some very specific ideas and wanted to include one pearl for every year of their marriage. It was a joy working with him and I felt honored that he asked me to create this piece. After receiving the necklace he wrote me a lovely note:
“Sarah, Just wanted to tell you again how much I appreciate you working with me on Toni’s necklace, but especially how great a job you did on it! It’s always fun to have some ideas, but to see someone bring them into being and actually improve upon them is especially a joy that everyone will enjoy forever! Thanks again!”Chuck
